Get Your Beliefs Out Of Your Box
I remember an old song about Don’t Fence Me In, and Give Me Land; Lots of Land Cole Porter’s hit song "Don’t Fence Me In
“In Hollywood Canteen, Roy Rogers performs the
Song.
This song for some reason kept playing over and over in my head, and I honestly don’t remember all the words, but it kept going through my head which annoyed me.It annoyed me until I started writing this post about getting my beliefs out of My Box.
It is amazing how a sport such as skating for me challenges every aspect of my life.
Just getting to the rink for practice, money for skating lessons, how to teach a person who skates and just happens to be blind are the first topics to discuss. At the same time; the challenges are overcome with dignity and gentleness as I somehow dialogue with whatever is happening.
I never dreamed when I first put a pair of skates on in 1968 that I would somehow be teaching folks how to sense their bodies in very unique ways.
I am an avid Braille reader, and now I am getting ready to purchase my first real Braille Display.
I never liked writing with the slate and stylus but feel attracted to Braille Displays as I won’t have to use Braille paper and punch holes in real paper. The Display will delete, make new dots as new information arrives on the keyboard.
I suppose this is like deleting something in our consciousness as well.We can pick and choose our selected files or folders to delete, save, or put them in our recycle bin.
I’m a firm believer, and a firm feeler that beliefs can be dealt with in kind and gentle ways.
The dialogue with our beliefs truly can be a dialogue of dignity as well as have diplomacy as we soften our beliefs.
I feel this happens as the gentleness allows me to glide through life instead of griping or groping my way through my life.
Think about how you sense your feet as you walk.
Do you sense the floor before you step on it, or do you pay no attention to the act of a step or walking.
Just some thoughts.
